Scott is the 52nd Mayor of Baltimore, committed to ending gun violence, rebuilding public trust in government, and driving transformative change for the city. Elected President of the Baltimore City Council in 2019, Scott developed the Council’s first-ever legislative agenda, prioritizing safer communities, transparent governance, youth investment, and equity. Previously, he represented Baltimore's 2nd District, becoming one of the youngest members elected to the Council in 2011 at age 27. As a councilman, Scott emerged as a leading advocate for violence reduction, reinstating Council oversight of the police, and advancing initiatives for crime data transparency and open data policies. In 2018, Scott passed a landmark equity law requiring all city agencies to operate with a focus on equity, ensuring budgets, operations, and legislation are assessed through an equity lens. He views violence reduction as a public health challenge and has championed collaborative, citywide approaches to address it. On the national stage, Scott has held prominent roles, including Chair of the National League of Cities' Large Cities Council and Secretary of Housing and Urban Development for YEO’s America’s Cabinet. Locally, he has worked tirelessly to uplift Baltimore’s communities through innovative and inclusive solutions. A proud lifelong Baltimorean, Scott graduated from MERVO High School and St. Mary’s College of Maryland. He continues to serve his community while residing in the Frankford neighborhood of Northeast Baltimore. |
